‘What It Takes’ Campaign

WHAT IT TAKES: LONDON 2012

Sound films is  developing a digital experience that inspires young people whilst providing young athletes a creative outlet to document their incredible stories.

A major part of London’s winning  bid to host the 2012 Olympics was its focus on young people and how, it would commit to investing in encouraging kids, no matter who they were or where they came from, to get involved in Olympic and Paralympic sports.  The call went out for young people to come forward and compete for the greatest challenge of their lives.

60 sec taster:

Sound Films will work with local filmmakers to document the very personal and individual journeys each athlete takes while demonstrating the enormous commitment, both physically and emotionally that is required to become a world class athlete.

I wish to thank everyone at Kelly College for their support in letting us spend time with the incredible young swimmer Luaren Steadman.

Sound Films met up with Darius Knight the young British table tennis champion who is training hard for a shot at the 2012 Olympics. He first started practising in his garden shed to avoid following his friends who were involved in gang crime.

Sound Films wants to inspire a younger generation to become the active fans of the athletes. Producer Andy Gordon has previously followed Olympic hopefuls including Nicole Cooke & has recently been working with  AASE & The Institute Of Swimming.

He has produced the content for digital ad campaigns  including Oxfam’s ‘Face The Music’ which played at the cinema & ‘Fernando Torres  Friends’ which won the Direct Bronze at The Cannes Lions.

Andy has continued to produce award winning short films including the highly acclaimed live action film ‘Hibernation’ which won Best British Short film & went on to win over 20 international awards & play in over a 1000 cinemas globally.

Andy recently supported Johnny ‘Sticky’ Budden on his run and jump from the top of Scotland to Paris to raise awareness for Motor Neurone Disease. During the 40 day race over 700,000 people logged on to view regular updates. Some were inspired to come out and join him across the UK.
